Qualifications

  • Strong experience producing electrical designs for renewable energy projects.
  • Solid understanding of relevant wiring regulations.
  • Experience with power transmission design is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and review electrical calculations and specifications.
  • Deliver power cable calculations and electrical service designs.
  • Ensure compliance with project documentation and regulatory requirements.

Skills

Electrical design for power generation

Electrical Design Engineer – Senior

Locations : Blackburn or Glasgow

About Our Client

Our client is a leading UK-based energy and engineering consultancy specialising in the design and delivery of low‑carbon energy infrastructure. They work across both the public and private sectors, supporting hospitals, universities, residential developments, commercial buildings and large‑scale urban projects to decarbonise heat and power systems. Their work plays a key role in supporting the UK’s Net Zero ambitions through innovative, sustainable energy solutions. They are growing at 20% YoY and have a team of 125 MEP Engineers across the UK.

The Role

Our client is looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to take a leading role in the technical delivery of renewable energy, sustainability and power infrastructure projects.

You will be responsible for producing and coordinating detailed electrical designs, supporting project teams and contributing to safe, compliant and efficient engineering solutions across multiple project stages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Producing and reviewing electrical calculations, specifications and drawings
  • Delivering power cable calculations, C&I cabling designs and electrical building services designs
  • Ensuring design documentation meets project, client and regulatory requirements
  • Supporting equipment selection and technical decision‑making
  • Contributing to and supporting HAZOP studies
Skills & Experience
  • Strong experience producing electrical designs for power generation, power transmission, renewable energy or building services projects
  • HNC / HND in Electrical Engineering (degree preferred)
  • Solid understanding of BS 7671 Wiring Regulations
  • Experience with Amtech (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of VSD‑controlled motors, MCCs, and associated systems (advantageous)
  • Full UK manual driving licence
