Job description
Senior Diagnostic Radiographer – Mammography & CT

We are inviting applications for a senior diagnostic radiographer to work at the Cavendish Square site, central London. The successful candidate will rotate between mammography and CT and will hold a postgraduate certificate in mammography. CT training can be provided where required.

Key responsibilities
  • Perform imaging examinations as an operator under the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017.
  • Follow the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) guidelines, local rules and departmental standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure accurate patient identification procedures and that referrals are justified correctly and booked in a timely manner.
  • Give advice where appropriate on the validity of requested examinations and on aftercare following interventional procedures and bruising/extravasations post intravenous contrast injection.
  • Maintain radiation safety when undertaking CT examinations and ensure the safety and protection of patients, staff and carers are adhered to.
  • Perform standard equipment quality assurance (QA), record results accurately and alert the Superintendent radiographer/medical physics specific communication needs of individual patients and ascertain from the patient, patient’s guardian or the referrer patient’s suitability and consent for receipt of intravenous contrast media.
  • Administer intravenous contrast via a pressure injector.
  • Record/retrieve data on patient’s allergy status with particular reference to intravenous contrast.
  • Ensure protocols and standards are maintained and improved to produce best diagnostic information and patient care.
