We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer based at our @One Alliance, Peterborough office, with hybrid working available.
You will report directly to the Principal Engineer, and your role will be to provide high-quality Engineering Design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will coordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings, considering health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards relevant to the contract.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Producing cost-effective design layouts that meet specifications and are suitable for construction and commissioning. The term ‘cost’ encompasses all costs related to the design and subsequent construction, including design time, materials, erection, and impacts on other disciplines.
- Utilizing standard practices whenever possible, maintaining competitiveness, and providing estimates and feedback for the proposals department.
- Following procedures and processes to ensure the department's continuous development.
- Assisting in developing, monitoring, and reviewing procedures and processes.
- Writing, updating, and monitoring efficient procedures to facilitate departmental operations.
- Coordinating designs with all other disciplines, both internal and external, to ensure integrated and efficient project execution.
- Maintaining files and records throughout the contract duration.
- Ensuring customer satisfaction, recognizing that satisfying the customer is key to achieving other objectives.
- Maintaining a personal development plan.
- Assisting in supervising and developing staff.
- Promoting a safe working environment for all staff.
- Minimizing waste from departmental activities.
- Ensuring designs consider environmental issues and health and safety requirements.
Essential qualifications and experience:
- Degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
- Understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
- Experience in managing or mentoring staff in designing water and sewage treatment plants.
- Membership of a professional institution, chartered or nearing chartership.
Preferable qualifications:
- Relevant discipline engineering degree.
- Minimum of an HND in relevant discipline engineering.
- Ability to rationalize designs and produce economical plant layouts.
- Good knowledge of water treatment aspects, including mechanical, process, electrical engineering, and project management.
- Flexible mindset with the ability to process large amounts of data.
- Clear and confident technical proposal presentation skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Driving license.
Desirable qualifications:
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
- Relevant Master's Degree in Engineering.
