Qualifications

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or young person equivalent) is essential.
  • Previous experience supporting children in a residential environment is required.
  • Full UK driving licence is important.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nurturing, consistent support to young people with autism, ADHD, and severe learning disabilities.
  • Help children navigate their daily routines including education and community outings.
  • Use communication methods to support non-verbal children.
  • Respond calmly to challenging behaviours and provide personal care.
  • Monitor epilepsy and respond to seizures.

Skills

Experience supporting children with autism
Non-verbal communication approaches (PECS, Makaton)
Understanding of PBS and sensory regulation
Ability to manage difficult behaviours
Compassionate and reliable
