VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join the Legal & Compliance Team. You will ensure compliance with UK data protection laws, advise business units, support the DPO, and manage breaches and regulatory interactions.

The role emphasizes privacy, compliance, and continuous improvement within a regulated environment. You will engage with regulators and senior leaders to drive robust data protection practices across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience providing data protection guidance within Compliance or Legal functions
• Strong understanding of ICO guidance and regulatory expectations in consumer credit or retail banking
• Ability to analyse complex regulatory information and communicate it clearly

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes
• Maintain Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA)
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA)
• Lead breach oversight and MI reporting to senior forums
• Act as point of contact for DSARs, complaints and litigation related to data protection
• Develop second-line monitoring to assess compliance and drive improvements
• Coordinate with ICO on regulatory inquiries and investigations
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance across the business to resolve privacy issues
• Drive continuous improvement in data protection compliance and efficiency
