Job summary

VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join the Legal & Compliance Team. You will provide expert guidance on UK data protection laws, support the DPO, manage personal data breaches, and oversee risk and regulator engagement in a dynamic, regulated environment.

You will work with business units, lead DPIAs, maintain Registers of Processing Activities, and drive continuous improvement in privacy compliance and operational efficiency across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Proven data protection advisory experience in Compliance or Legal.
• Strong knowledge of ICO guidance and regulatory expectations in consumer credit or retail banking.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision.
• Skilled at researching, analysing, and interpreting regulatory information.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement with negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Support maintenance of Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist in conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead breach oversight and MI reporting to senior forums.
• Be a key contact for DSARs, complaints and litigation matters.
• Develop second-line monitoring to assess compliance and drive improvements.
• Liaise with the ICO on complaints and regulatory enquiries.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance to resolve privacy issues.
• Drive continuous improvement of data protection compliance and efficiency.
