Job summary

VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance Team. You will ensure we stay compliant with UK data protection laws, advise senior leaders, and support the DPO in statutory duties.

You will lead initiatives from managing data breaches to DPIAs, ROPA maintenance, DSAR handling, and regulatory investigations, while driving continuous improvement across the business.

Qualifications

• Experience providing data protection guidance within Compliance or Legal functions at a specialist level.
• Excellent understanding of ICO guidance, codes and regulatory expectations.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision and professionalism.
• Ability to research, analyse, interpret and present complex regulatory information.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Assist in maintenance of Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead assessment, oversight and reporting of personal data breaches, including MI reporting to senior forums.
• Act as a key contact for front-line and operational teams on DSARs, complaints and litigation matters.
• Develop and execute second-line monitoring activities to assess compliance and drive improvements.
• Liaise with the ICO on customer complaints and regulatory enquiries, ensuring robust investigations and responses.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance colleagues to resolve data protection issues.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data protection compliance and operational efficiency.
