Overview

We are currently recruiting a Senior Wordings Technician to join our Cyber team on a fixed term contract in London!

The Cyber Wordings function is a cornerstone of our reinsurance placement process and a key element of client advocacy. Beyond supporting reinsurance contract wordings, this function plays a pivotal role in driving revenue growth for the global Cyber Team, directly and indirectly. This position offers an exciting opportunity to improve and expand our Wordings division, encouraging innovation and excellence within the cyber insurance market.

How you\'ll make an impact

Contract drafting and review:

  • Draft new terms and conditions for reinsurance contracts and endorsements, ensuring they align with industry standards and meet client-specific requirements.
  • Review reinsurance contract details to ensure clarity, compliance, and competitiveness.

Contract Consultation and Client Advisory:

Serve as a subject matter expert, advising clients on contract language, potential exposures, and interpretation of terms. Typical contract structures – QS, Aggregate Excess of Loss, Occurrence; ILW; ILS.

Provide insights and recommendations on:

  • Reinsurance Contract Reviews: Identify advantageous and non-advantageous terms, benchmark against best practices, and suggest improvements.
  • Original Product Reviews: Benchmarking products, highlighting areas of heightened exposure and suggest improvements.
  • Aggregation Language and Event Definitions: Consult on defining events, market appetite, and risk scenarios.
  • New Coverage Development: Collaborate on innovative coverage areas, such as Artificial Intelligence.
  • Exclusions: Lead workshops on sophisticated cyber exclusions (e.g., War and State-sponsored Cyber-attacks).
  • Innovation: Propose contractual language for emerging trends in the cyber marketplace, including insurance, reinsurance, and retrocession levels.

Training and Knowledge-sharing:

  • Develop and implement training programs for team members at various skill levels (beginner to advanced).
  • Conduct training sessions on cyber contract specifics, emerging challenges, and standard methodologies in reinsurance contracts.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning and knowledge-sharing within the team.

Cyber-related Research and Product Development:

  • Stay informed about evolving cyber risks, regulations, and litigation trends, with a focus on their impact on (re)insurance coverage.
  • Support the development of insights on industry hot topics and emerging trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and refine innovative products (e.g., ILW, ILS).
About You
  • Bachelor\'s degree in legal or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of reinsurance products, terminology, and contract law. Familiarity with global regulatory environments and compliance standards.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Standout colleague, quick at grasping complex matters, problem-solver.
  • Attention to detail and precision in contract language.
  • Ability to interpret sophisticated legal language and apply it to practical situations.
