Senior Contracts Engineer (Sub Agent)

Company: Balvac – a subsidiary of Balfour Beatty, located in Warrington (Site & Office based).

About the role

At Balvac, specialists in structural repair, strengthening and refurbishment of critical infrastructure, we are looking for a Senior Contracts Engineer to support the delivery of complex concrete and specialist repair schemes across the North West and beyond. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to take ownership of projects, lead site teams and deliver high‑quality outcomes for our clients.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage Balvac schemes of varying size and complexity from site through to completion.
  • Lead and coordinate site teams and specialist subcontractors.
  • Ensure works are delivered in line with contract drawings, specifications and Project Management Plans.
  • Produce and review method statements, risk assessments and construction documentation.
  • Manage dimensional control, setting‑out and technical delivery on site.
  • Develop and monitor programmes, tracking progress and productivity.
  • Drive high standards of Health, Safety & Environmental performance, including behavioural safety.
  • Maintain construction records, as‑built drawings and O&M manuals.
  • Proactively identify and resolve engineering and delivery challenges.
  • Support Balvac’s focus on Customer Excellence, Innovation and Quality Delivery.
Qualifications and experience
  • Civil Engineering degree (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience delivering structural or specialist concrete repair projects.
  • Experience working on infrastructure schemes involving concrete structures.
  • Strong technical knowledge of structural repairs and construction methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple teams and workstreams simultaneously.
  • Solid understanding of cost, programme and site performance management.
  • Proactive, confident leadership style with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to Zero Harm and high safety standards.
