Responsibilities
  • The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of the Neurology Research team at St Georges Hospital.
  • The post holder will work collaboratively with the Clinical Research Matron/Head of Research Nursing and a wider multidisciplinary team in the management of a portfolio of clinical trials and be accountable for the achievement of local and national targets in relation to the service.
  • The post holder will be involved in ensuring that any research undertaken safeguards the well-being of the patient and is conducted within Good Clinical Practice Guidelines for research.
  • The post holder will have the skills to lead by example as an expert practitioner providing organisation and leadership to the multi‑professional team and supporting the patient throughout a clinical trial.
  • The post holder will also be expected to have sufficient skills to enable patients to make informed choices concerning their involvement in clinical trials by providing advice and information and acting as the patients’ advocate.
  • The post holder must also be willing to move to different clinical specialties within the remit of their qualifications and where the need to do so is identified.

St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and experienced individual in the Neurology Research Team within the Neurosciences Department as a Senior Neurology Research Nurse.

This is an exciting opportunity with responsibility for the set‑up, recruiting to, and co‑ordinating early and late phase clinical trials, and the shared line management and training of research staff working in this portfolio.

Key Focus Areas
  • The key theme of research excellence in Neurology such as Multiple Sclerosis, Migraine, Motor Neurone, Parkinsons amongst others.
  • The department participates in many trials, including NIHR portfolio work.
  • Participation in high quality early and late phase trials is critically important for Neurology to maintain its position as a leader in the Neurology Research field worldwide and the successful candidate will be key to this.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with Principal Investigators to establish and further develop Neurology research.
Key Responsibilities of the Post
  • Co‑ordination and management of the Neurology team and research portfolio.
  • Central to this role is responsibility for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients participating in clinical trials and studies.
