Job description
Senior Clinical Fellow in Urology

We are seeking to recruit a Senior Clinical Fellow in Urology in the Chelsea site of Chelsea & Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust.

The successful candidates will be supported to develop their CPD and will be encouraged to link in with the Trust’s many audit and research opportunities.

Enthusiastic, reliable, and highly motivated clinicians are invited to submit an application for the post of Specialist Registrar in Urology services. The successful candidate will become part of a team comprising of consultants and middle grades.

To start in April 2026.

The main duties of the post will be to assist in clinics and elective theatres, as well as the on‑call rota. It is intended to offer appointees, where possible, equivalent opportunities for personal development as a SpR, i.e. a study leave entitlement and allocated study leave budget.

The timetable is arranged on a weekly basis by the current Senior SpR. You will be allocated to a number of theatre and outpatient sessions that will vary each week. Careful attention is made that all middle grades have equal opportunities in these areas.

Academic afternoons are held every Friday. Sessions include audit, mortality and morbidity, clinic pathological conferences, and junior staff teaching, guest lectures, interdepartmental meetings etc. Clinical activities are kept to a minimum to include emergency cover only, so that all members of each team can attend.

In addition, each Consultant firm holds a weekly multidisciplinary team meeting to discuss cases with appropriate fellow professionals. All doctors are expected to keep up to date with their clinic letter dictation.

Responsibilities
  • Outpatient clinics
  • Diagnostic procedures eg. Flexible cystoscopy
  • Inpatient and day case operating lists
  • Attendance at MDT meetings
  • Participation in audit and governance activities of the department
  • Ensure compliance to commissioning standards for patients presenting on a 2WW or 62 day cancer pathway through prompt diagnosis and treatment.
  • Work with consultants and colleagues in management to meet current NHS targets for patient waiting times
  • Support the subspecialisation in the department by appropriate cross referral to colleagues
  • Promote early and safe discharge of patients
  • Strong commitment to the organisation and delivery of training
  • Deliver outpatient clinics, diagnostic procedures and theatre lists to support the service
