Senior Clinical Fellow in Trauma & Orthopaedics

We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Senior Clinical Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedics (Foot and Ankle) on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful T&O department.

Our client's Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics is a thriving department that serves a wide variety of elective Orthopaedic interests and also acts as the Major Trauma Centre for the East of England. The Orthopaedic Trauma Unit has 5 specialist Orthopaedic Trauma consultants and accepts Major Trauma patients from on call colleagues during office hours. The Department has dedicated Wards C8 and D8 with a dedicated Elective Orthopaedic Unit and Elderly Trauma Unit that are able to care for the majority of patients directly from the ED and theatre. Our client also has an extensive Intensive Care Unit capacity for trauma patients and a recently expanded HDU.

The successful appointee will be joining a department, where the appointee will be expected to undertake various duties within the department. These include:

  • Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff
  • Responsibilities for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and for contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activity, locally and nationally
  • Participating in medical audit, the Trust's Clinical Governance processes and in CPD
  • Responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department
