Applications are invited for appointment of a Senior Clinical Fellow to this subspecialty in Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Trust as a fixed term contract of 6 or 12 months (depending on candidate) starting from September 2026.

The aim of these posts is to provide sub-specialty clinical training in all aspects of elective paediatric orthopaedic surgery, in particular for rare disorders and complex procedures. Fellows will gain experience in all major areas of paediatric orthopaedics. Rotations between senior staff will ensure that the appointee will work in a variety of sub-specialist areas. There is some flexibility regarding the roster. The responsibilities include the full pathway of surgical treatment for elective cases, outpatient clinics, audit and research. A typical week includes 2 operating days, 2 clinic days and at least one half day for research.

Applicants must have full GMC registration with a licence to practice, possess the FRCS (Orth) or equivalent and have previous experience in paediatric orthopaedics.

Main duties

The post holder will be assigned to a consultant once appointed and will work predominately with one/two consultants. It is expected that you will assist with other clinics and theatre lists as appropriate. Applicants are encouraged to discuss the timetable and duties with the current post holder and the consultants on appointment. This timetable contains essentially all the activities currently taking place within the unit. The postholder will be encouraged to take part in all the activities offered within the department, particularly the theatre lists when clinic commitments permit. Currently, the post holder is on a non-resident on-call rota, which meets both New Deal and EWTD.
