Job description
Overview

Senior Clinical fellow in Anaesthetics: An exciting opportunity for motivated doctors to join the team at Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. The posts will require right to work in the UK and current GMC registration. The posts are for 12 months initially (with the possibility of subsequent extension). The post holder will be required to work on call at either Epsom or St Helier Hospital.

The Department of Anaesthetics is a friendly and supportive one. We have achieved ACSA Accreditation from the Royal College of Anaesthetists, welcome innovation and will support change where it improves care to our patients. The Trust provides a range of medical services to approximately 420,000 people across southwest London and northeast Surrey, with some specialist services for renal and neonatal intensive care for a wider area.

The Epsom & St Helier Anaesthetic department is aligned with the St George’s Hospital teaching programme for medical students and the SW Thames School of Anaesthesia training programme. We score highly in the national hip fracture database, are among the busier units in London, and our National Emergency Laparotomy Audit (NELA) pathway and patient outcomes score as excellent.

The post is part of the St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group, serving a population of about four million people. Our sites include St George’s Hospital, St Helier Hospital, and Epsom Hospital, with major services and teaching activities across the group.

The post holder will be on call at either Epsom or St Helier Hospital. The senior clinical fellow will be supported at all times by Consultants and will supervise junior fellows. Depending on experience and seniority, on-call rota slots will be allocated to either the senior tier (labour ward and paediatric emergencies) or the junior tier (St Helenier theatres or Epsom HDU).

Closing date: This advert closes on Sunday 5 Oct 2025.
