Role

Hull City Council has been on a journey of improvement and has become a leading provider of Children’s Homes. We are committed to developing nurturing, high quality homes where children can thrive and achieve their next steps. We are looking for a highly motivated, skilled, tenacious and dedicated Senior Care Officer to form part of the leadership team at Connect Family Support Team based within Elgar Hub. The purpose of the team, alongside providing high quality care for the children and young people within our care, is also to provide responsive support to families to help children stay safely at home wherever possible.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advice, support and guidance on individualised care plans as well as behaviour and general care/safeguarding of the young people in the home.
  • Work, supervise and support staff who will be involved in the day-to-day running of the Home.
  • Collaborate with the Home Manager and undertake duties commensurate with the needs of the Service.
  • Lead and motivate staff, engage in new developments, and give positive direction.
  • Provide responsive support to families, such as parenting advice or behaviour support, where children and young people cannot return to live with their families.
  • Ensure good care planning takes place to support successful transition into the next steps in their lives.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience within a child care setting, encompassing supervisory duties and working with children and young people with complex needs.
  • NVQ Level 3 in a relevant Health and Social Care area of work, or equivalent.
  • Supportive and enabling approach, able to engage in new developments and motivate staff.
Compensation and Working Hours

Two additional increments are payable for weekend working for permanent and fixed term staff.

Hours per week will vary, totalling 74 hours per month part time and will include long shifts and sleep-in shifts. Hours will exceed 20 hours per week at times due to the rota.
