At Alston House Care Home, our Care Assistants are called Homemakers. They are carers and companions who have time to get to know our residents and tailor care to each person’s needs. Joining us at Alston House, a luxury care home that provides residential, dementia, and nursing care for older people, you’ll be part of a team passionate about the health and well-being of our residents.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred care to residents in residential, dementia, and nursing settings; care should be tailored to each individual’s preferences and needs.
• Administer medication, assist with daily living tasks (e.g., making beds), and support activities such as arranging family meals or taking residents to the beauty salon, as appropriate.
• Spend meaningful time with residents, focusing on the tiny details that make each person unique.
• Work as part of a supportive team to provide kindness and companionship to residents, avoiding purely task-based care.
• Adapt to a varied role where no two days are the same and contribute to a positive, family-like care environment.

Qualifications

• A strong background in care; training experience or qualification preferred.
• Educated to NVQ Level 3 (desirable).
• Experience as a senior healthcare assistant, healthcare assistant, care assistant, carer, home care assistant or domiciliary care assistant is welcomed.
