A leading general insurance provider seeks a Senior Broker to manage placements for large corporate accounts in the UK. This role involves managing new business, negotiating terms, and liaising with insurance partners. Candidates should have strong market-facing trading experience and technical knowledge in commercial lines. Due to substantial growth, we are looking for a Senior Broker within our National Intermediary Services (NIS) department. The role will focus on new business and supporting and negotiating terms with our insurers. Further involvement in the support of the renewal of existing policies and involves the oversight and tactical placement of business to ensure retention and high-quality outcome for the benefit of NFU Mutual customers.
You'll manage the placement of commercial and mid-corporate new business and renewals ranging from casualty, property and additional lines of business supporting our office network of Agents throughout the process. You'll liaise with insurance partners to obtain and negotiate appropriate terms and ensure they're provided in line with our agreed criteria.
Another part of your role will be to attend meetings with our office network to work on new business pipelines and discuss upcoming renewals and cross‑selling opportunities. As a subject matter expert, you may support our Agents in the field, accompanying them on client visits to provide information on the best placement of their insurances. If you have experience and knowledge of the commercial insurance market, having operated in either a broker or insurer, and looking for a new and different challenge, this role could be for you.
You'll identify opportunities for product and pricing enhancements and negotiate and deliver agreed improvements designed to ensure NIS delivers the best products and maintains competitive advantage.
You'll also seek out potential enhancements for products and pricing strategies, and successfully negotiate and implement the agreed‑upon advancements. These efforts are aimed at ensuring that NIS consistently offers top‑tier products and secures a competitive edge. Additionally, execute short‑term or singular projects and tasks to the quality and results specified and agreed upon with your Line Manager.

This role falls under Insurance Distribution Directive requirements, and as a result, role holders will be required to demonstrate ongoing Continuous Professional Development in role, along with undergoing regular re‑screening to show that they are of "Good Repute". Ideally Dip CII qualified, you'll bring proven experience in a market‑facing trading role, gained within either an insurer or a large broker. With strong knowledge of the UK commercial insurance market, you'll have technical expertise in commercial lines with particular exposure to High‑Risk Liability and Complex Property. Experience in Motor trade/Fleet and London Market placements would be advantageous but not essential.
You'll be commercially astute, highly analytical, and able to solve problems on complex technical cases. Just as importantly, you'll have the communication skills to explain technical detail clearly, influence outcomes, and build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business and wider market.
