Job description

I am currently partnering with an international law firm in their search for a Senior Billing Coordinator to join their London office on a permanent basis. The role focuses exclusively on billing, working alongside three experienced Senior Billers and reporting to the Global Billing Manager.

Day duties of the role:

  • Manage end-to-end billing, including eBilling for multiple international offices, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing
  • Liaise with Partners, Associates, and clients to resolve billing queries and maintain compliance with client guidelines
  • Share best practice and provide guidance to lawyers and secretaries on complex billing requirements
  • Supervise and mentor junior billing staff, offering training and feedback
  • Provide technical support and training to other teams when needed
  • Collaborate with Finance, Client Services, and Legal teams to improve billing processes
  • Monitor WIP and address issues to meet billing targets
  • Assist with working capital management, including WIP and billing reports
  • Contribute to developing and implementing billing policies, procedures, and system improvements
  • Support audits and compliance initiatives related to billing and revenue recognition
  • Promote continuous improvement and innovation within the billing function
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC, global tax regulations, and SRA Accounts Rules
  • Provide subject matter expertise and assist with projects as required

Experience needed for the role includes:

  • Proven experience in legal billing, ideally within a global law firm or professional services environment
  • Minimum five years in a senior billing role.
  • Solid understanding of Solicitors' Accounts Rules and VAT requirements for law firm billing
  • Hands-on experience with eBilling across multiple platforms
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams and cultures
