Are you an experienced practice accountant looking for your next career move Our client a well-established chartered certified accountancy firm in Crewe is seeking a Senior Practice Accountant to join their expanding team. About the Role
As a Senior Practice Accountant you’ll take ownership of a varied client portfolio managing all aspects of accounts preparation taxation and financial reporting. You’ll work closely with clients across multiple sectors providing high-quality technical support whilst mentoring junior team members and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.

Key Responsibilities
Client Management & Relationship Building
- Manage a diverse portfolio of clients across various sectors including sole traders partnerships limited companies and charities
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned clients building strong trusted relationships
- Provide proactive advice on accounting matters tax planning and business development opportunities
- Attend client meetings and conduct site visits as required
Financial Statements & Reporting
- Prepare statutory accounts for sole traders partnerships and limited companies in accordance with UK GAAP and FRS 102
- Review and finalise financial statements ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
- Prepare management accounts and provide insightful financial analysis to support client decision-making
- Ensure all work meets regulatory requirements and internal quality standards
Taxation
- Prepare and review personal tax returns (SA100) for individuals partnerships and trusts
- Complete corporation tax computations (CT600) for limited companies
- Advise clients on tax planning opportunities and compliance obligations
- Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients regarding tax queries and investigations
- Prepare VAT returns and provide VAT advice where required
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise and mentor junior accountants and trainees reviewing their work and providing constructive feedback
- Support the development of junior team members through coaching and knowledge sharing
- Delegate tasks effectively whilst maintaining quality control
- Contribute to team meetings and share technical knowledge across the practice
Systems & Process Improvement
- Utilise cloud accounting software including Xero Sage QuickBooks and FreeAgent
- Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and client service delivery
- Stay current with changes in accounting standards tax legislation and industry best practices
- Contribute to the firms commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified (ACCA ACA CIMA or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years UK practice experience within an accountancy firm environment
- Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP FRS 102 and current tax legislation
- Proven experience preparing statutory accounts for sole traders partnerships and limited companies
- Competent in preparing personal and corporation tax returns
- Experience using cloud accounting software (Xero Sage QuickBooks or FreeAgent)
