Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Wimborne, Dorset
Rate: £12.82 per hour
Contract Type: Full Time (Part-time can be arranged for the right candidate)
Start Date: September 2025

About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a vital role in assisting students with special educational needs. You will work closely with teachers to provide one-on-one and group support, aiding students in improving their academic skills and comprehension. Your responsibilities will also include preparing lesson materials, supporting classroom activities, and providing feedback on student improvement.

Key Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

  • Collaborate with teachers to create tailored learning plans that address the specific needs of each student. Regularly review and adjust these plans to ensure they remain effective and relevant.
  • Offer individual and small group interventions to help students improve their academic skills. Use evidence-based strategies to support students in developing their reading, writing, and comprehension abilities.
  • Teach and reinforce effective study techniques, helping students to understand and engage with their studies. Encourage positive interactions and model appropriate behaviour.
  • Work alongside classroom teachers to implement learning strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment. Support teachers in addressing learning challenges and fostering a culture of respect and cooperation.
  • Maintain detailed records of students’ progress and any interventions used. Provide regular updates to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties to ensure a coordinated approach to each student’s development.
  • Ensure comprehensive support by collaborating with counsellors, social workers, and other professionals to address the broader needs of students and their families.

Requirements of SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students in their educational journey.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education are desirable.
  • University students and fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
