Job summary

An educational staffing agency is seeking qualified Learning Support Assistants to work at an SEN school in rural Smeeth, Ashford. Candidates should have prior experience supporting children with special educational needs or learning difficulties and be passionate about education, particularly in outdoor settings. This role offers competitive pay starting from £90 per day with responsibilities including supporting students in small groups and following IEPs. Candidates must also have or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS.

Job description

We are working with a large SEN school just outside of Ashford who are looking for experienced and qualified Learning Support Assistants to start throughout the academic year. The school is an independent, coeducational, day school which caters for students across Key Stages 1 – Key Stage 4 with EHC Plans of Social, Emotional, and Behavior difficulties and a range of Learning Difficulties including Autism and Moderate Learning Difficulties.

Responsibilities:
  • Support students 1:1 and on a small group basis.
  • Follow IEPs.
  • Manage any challenging behavior.
  • Work under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Have a passion for the outdoors and for animals as the school has a farm attached and promote outdoor learning when the weather accommodates.

It is essential that you have previous experience supporting Children or Adults with SEN or Learning Difficulties, or have worked in the Care Sector, and must be capable to help children with their work who need extra academic support.

The school is set in a beautiful rural site of Ashford and is housed in a range of buildings, from converted farm buildings to award winning buildings of four large newly built classrooms. Students use the site for sports events, archaeological digs and ecology studies as well as being given the opportunity to grow fruit and vegetables and take part in vocational studies with the workshops and kitchen spaces.
