A wonderful opportunity has opened for an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partner school in Ipswich. We are seeking a proactive and empathetic professional to support students with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties. In this role, you won't just be assisting in a classroom; you will be a mentor and a pillar of support for young people navigating their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 or small group assistance, helping students stay focused and confident during their lessons.
• Partner with the class teacher to prepare inclusive materials and adapt the learning environment to suit sensory needs.
• Support the emotional well‑being of pupils by using positive reinforcement and gentle de‑escalation techniques.
• Contribute to the tracking of student progress, ensuring all achievements are recorded against their EHCP goals.
• Promote daily life skills and social interaction, empowering students to gain greater independence.
• Maintain a collaborative relationship with the school's therapeutic team to provide a holistic support system for every child.

Requirements

• Hands‑on experience in a setting that supports individuals with additional needs is highly advantageous.
• A resilient, "can‑do" attitude and the ability to remain calm and patient under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with students, staff, and families.
• An understanding of SEN frameworks and a desire to implement specialised learning strategies.
• Relevant certifications (such as Level 2/3 TA) are welcomed, though we prioritise a candidate's personality and experience.
• An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or the willingness to apply for one).
