Primary Specialist Teacher Opportunity: Make a Life-Changing Difference

Location: Bristol

Role: Two Primary Specialist Class Teachers (Key Stage 2/Upper Primary)

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent or Temporary Basis

Start Date: January 2026

The School & Setting

We are a highly successful specialist educational provision dedicated to supporting students who thrive in a small, therapeutic, and nurturing environment. Our mission is to re-engage young people who have become hesitant about learning, offering them the stability, confidence, and tailored support they need to succeed.

  • Our Students: Children are typically in Years 3 to 6 (approx. ages 7-11) and face complex needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and Speech, Communication and Language Needs (SCLN).

  • The Challenge: All students present with an academic delay of 1 to 4 years, requiring exceptionally patient, creative, and highly differentiated teaching.

  • Class Structure: Our small-group model is key to our success. Class sizes are a maximum of 6 pupils, supported by one or two dedicated Teaching Assistants (TAs).

The Role: A Rewarding Challenge

This is an opportunity to move away from mainstream pressures and focus truly on holistic, child-centred progress. We are seeking educators who are prepared for a challenging but immensely rewarding career path.

Your focus will include:

  • Creating a Predictable Environment: Establishing a safe and structured learning space that actively utilises the 'now and next' approach to reduce student anxiety and manage transitions.

  • Therapeutic Teaching: Employing highly creative teaching methods and strong visual aids to make learning accessible and engaging for students with ASC and SCLN.

  • Individualised Support: Demonstrating the patience and skill to support children who struggle significantly with change, helping them develop emotional regulation and resilience.

  • Curriculum Adaptation: Planning and delivering a primary curriculum that effectively bridges significant attainment gaps and rebuilds foundational skills.

  • Teamwork: Working collaboratively with TAs and our wider pastoral team to integrate educational and therapeutic goals.

What We Offer You
  • Small Class Sizes: The opportunity to build genuine relationships and deliver meaningful impact within a maximum class size of 6 pupils.

  • High Level of Support: Excellent ratio of 1 or 2 TAs per class.

  • Negotiable Working Pattern: We recognise the unique commitment of specialist teachers. For the right candidate, we are willing to discuss and potentially negotiate working hours and expectations around planning and marking to achieve a sustainable work-life balance.

  • Term Time: We operate a term-time schedule.

Working Hours (Standard - Negotiable):

  • Monday, Thursday: 8:15 AM - 4:00 PM

  • Tuesday: 8:15 AM - 4:30 PM

  • Wednesday: 8:15 AM - 5:00 PM

  • Friday: 8:15 AM - 3:30 PM

The Ideal Candidate MUST Have:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Demonstrable experience working with children presenting with SEMH, ASC, and/or complex learning needs in a primary setting.

  • A proven ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and therapeutically.

  • A creative and flexible approach to curriculum delivery and classroom practice.

  • A deep commitment to making a positive, long-term difference to vulnerable children.
