Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) seeks a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs to support pupils with SEN under the direction of the principal and class teacher. The role involves assisting with educational support, personal care, and inclusion in mainstream settings, both in and out of the classroom.

The successful candidate will contribute to behavioural management, safety, and continuity of care, while following school policies and safeguarding guidance.

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum of a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area from a recognised accredited awarding body.
• Have a minimum of 12 months’ experience of working in a formal learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the educational support and the care of pupil(s) with special educational needs in or outside the classroom.
• Be aware of school policies, confidentiality and safeguarding requirements.
• Assist with administration, record-keeping and preparation of resources.
• Supervise groups or individuals and support off-site activities as directed by the class teacher.
