Job summary

Education Authority in Northern Ireland seeks a Classroom Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs under the direction of teachers and Education Authority staff. You will assist with curriculum access, personal care needs, and inclusion in mainstream settings.

Qualifications

• Option 1: Hold a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in a relevant area and have at least 6 weeks experience.
• Option 2: Have a minimum of 12 months’ experience in a formal learning environment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety, child development and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Assist with special classroom support for pupils with special educational needs.
• Develop understanding of pupil needs and participate in Education Plans and Care Plans.
• Assist with inclusion of pupils in mainstream schools.
• Support in managing the learning environment and resources.
• Assist with off-site activities under teacher direction.
• Provide continuity of adult care including supervision and safety.
