Job summary

Education Authority in Armagh/Craigavon is seeking a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs for 25 hours per week in a fixed-term contract. You will support the teacher with SEN pupil care, assist in implementing Education and Care Plans, and help with inclusion and mobility around the site.

You will work Monday to Friday, assisting with personal needs, learning activities, and record-keeping while maintaining a safe environment and supporting colleagues.

Qualifications

• Health and safety knowledge applicable to pupils and school environment.
• Understanding development needs of children/young people.
• Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding principles.
• Ability to plan and organise learning activities for SEN pupils.
• Ability to follow agreed systems, plans and record progress.
• Ability to work flexibly within a team to support learning.

Responsibilities

• Assist with SEN pupil support in and out of the classroom.
• Support with Education Plan and Care Plan implementation.
• Promote inclusion of pupil in mainstream settings under supervision.
• Assist with behavioural management and transport moves around the school.
• Provide assistance with administration and resource preparation.
