Job summary

National Instruments is seeking a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs in Ballymena. You will assist the teacher and outreach staff to support pupils with autism and other needs, enabling curriculum access and personal care as part of a dedicated educational team.

The role focuses on providing consistent support in a specialist provision class, with responsibilities ranging from behavioural strategies to facilitating participation in learning activities.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification and have at least 6 weeks experience in a formal learning env or via placement.
• Alternatively, 12 months’ experience in a formal learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Support SEN pupil(s) under supervision of the class/ outreach teacher.
• Assist with curriculum access, personal needs, and participation in programmes.
• Contribute to inclusive education and implement behavioural support plans.
• Assist with moving pupils and supervising activities, including off-site events.
• Support with administration and resources for pupil progress.
