Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a resilient and experienced SEMH Maths Teacher in Bristol for a full-time, long-term position within a specialist SEMH setting. This role is suited to a SEMH Maths Teacher who is confident managing challenging behaviour and committed to supporting young people who have struggled to thrive in mainstream education.

This SEMH Maths Teacher role in Bristol supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, many of whom present with high levels of dysregulation, poor emotional control and mistrust of adults. Behaviour can be challenging and unpredictable and success in this role relies heavily on strong boundaries, consistency and relationship-led practice.

Key Responsibilities - SEMH Maths Teacher (Bristol)
  • Deliver Maths lessons to small groups of secondary-aged pupils
  • Manage and respond to challenging behaviour using de-escalation strategies
  • Apply trauma-informed and restorative approaches consistently
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may resist learning
  • Adapt Maths teaching for pupils working well below age-related expectations
  • Maintain clear routines, boundaries and expectations
  • Work closely with behaviour mentors, TAs and pastoral staff
  • Record progress, incidents and safeguarding concerns appropriately

Essential Requirements
