  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to meet pupil targets.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support where required.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress.
  • Contribute to creating inclusive, engaging learning experiences.

We are working with a welcoming SEMH school in Billinge that supports pupils with low SEMH needs, including low anxiety and mild hyperactivity. The school prides itself on creating a calm, nurturing environment where every child can thrive academically and socially.

The Role:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across mixed‑age classes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver planned lessons and interventions under the guidance of the class teacher.
  • Support pupils with low‑level SEMH needs to engage positively in learning.
  • Foster a calm, structured classroom environment to reduce anxiety and promote focus.
  • Assist with behaviour management strategies tailored to individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to meet pupil targets.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support where required.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to the teaching team.
  • Contribute to creating inclusive, engaging learning experiences for all pupils.
Requirements:
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs is desirable.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
