A leading educational recruitment agency is seeking a dedicated Secondary SEN Teacher to provide 1:1 tutoring in Maths and Science for students in KS3 and KS4 across Central London. The ideal candidate will hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and demonstrate compassion in supporting pupils who are school-avoidant or have complex needs. The role is full-time, running from January to July 2026, with teaching carried out in community locations, including libraries. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of vulnerable students.
Location: Across Central London (primarily Islington), local libraries & community settings
Contract: January to July 2026, Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm, Term-time only
Pay: M1 - M6

Essential: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Tradewind are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Secondary SEN Teacher to tutor 1:1 with young people in KS3-KS4 who are missing from education, school avoiders, or have complex SEMH and trauma-related needs. Teaching takes place across community settings, including libraries and multi-site locations across Central London, particularly Islington. All locations are easily accessible via tube and local bus routes.
Deliver high-quality 1:1 teaching in Maths and Science at KS3-KS4 level.
Use trauma-informed, relational approaches to build trust and engagement.
Create personalised learning plans that meet academic, emotional, and behavioural needs.
Support students who are school-avoidant, have complex trauma, or are out of education.
Teach in a range of locations including libraries, alternative provisions, and community spaces.
Maintain calm, consistent boundaries and promote emotional regulation strategies.
Liaise closely with parents/carers, social workers, SENCOs and multi-agency teams.
Safeguard student wellbeing and follow safeguarding protocols at all times.
Adapt resources and learning materials to suit individual needs and EHCP outcomes.
QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
Proof of right to work in the UK.
Two professional references covering the last 2 years.
Overseas police checks (if applicable).
