We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Secondary SEND Classroom Assistant to join our vibrant educational community. Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique requirements, including those with autism and other disabilities.
- Support classroom activities by preparing materials, setting up learning stations, and facilitating engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards such as Montessori or preschool frameworks.
- Provide one‑on‑one or small group support to enhance literacy, numeracy, and social skills through targeted interventions and creative teaching strategies.
- Manage classroom behavior by applying effective behavior management techniques, promoting positive conduct, and maintaining a safe learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff members to monitor student progress and adapt instructional approaches accordingly.
- Assist with daily routines such as toileting, feeding (if applicable), and personal care for students requiring additional support.
- Foster strong communication with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure consistent support and progress tracking for all learners.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in educational settings such as daycare, preschool, private schools, or special education environments.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices.
- Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, and teaching strategies for diverse learners.
- Experience working with children with autism or disabilities, including behavior management techniques.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, students, and families.
- Demonstrated classroom management abilities to maintain a positive learning atmosphere.
- Relevant qualifications in special education, childcare, or early childhood education are highly desirable.
