Barchester Healthcare is seeking a qualified Second Chef to lead with fresh seasonal food, balancing high-quality meals with a better work-life balance. You'll assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, tasty menus for residents, tailoring dishes to individual needs, and delivering meals to the highest standards across our homes.

You'll manage kitchen activities in the Head Chef's absence, work within budget, and uphold HACCP principles.

Qualifications

• A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in residents' wellbeing.
• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent.
• Good understanding of nutrition and healthy cooking.
• Experience with fresh seasonal ingredients.
• Ability to create a welcoming home environment.
• Confidence engaging residents to plan appetising menus.
• Solid HACCP understanding.

Responsibilities

• Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
• Assist Head Chef in menu development and planning.
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality dishes.
• Create a warm, efficient and fun kitchen environment.
• Work within budget and controls.
• Complete regular audits and stock control.
