Job summary

Barchester Healthcare Limited is seeking a passionate Second Chef to join our kitchens delivering fresh seasonal menus for our residents. You will support the Head Chef, work without split shifts, and help create nutritious, flavoursome meals that meet high standards in our homes.

You'll manage stock, audits, and budgets while creating a warm, welcoming dining environment. We value quality care, person-centred service, and opportunities to contribute to menu development and resident satisfaction

Qualifications

• Personable and warm approach with residents.
• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent.
• Good understanding of nutrition.
• Experience working with fresh seasonal food.
• Ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within our home.
• Confidence engaging with residents to create appetising and nutritious menus.
• Good understanding of HACCP.

Responsibilities

• Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
• Assist Head Chef in menu development.
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality and wholesome dishes cooked to the highest standards.
• Create a warm, efficient and fun environment.
• Work within budget.
• Complete regular audits.
• Manage stock control.
