Job summary

Barchester Healthcare Homes Limited is seeking a Second Chef to help deliver hotel/restaurant standards within a care setting. You will assist the Head Chef, create nutritious menus for residents, and oversee kitchen operations with a focus on quality and resident wellbeing.

The role emphasises a warm, welcoming kitchen, HACCP compliance, and budget-conscious cooking using fresh seasonal ingredients to create delicious, well-balanced meals for our residents.

Qualifications

• Must hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent.
• Experience with fresh seasonal produce and menus.
• Strong focus on nutrition and resident wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Manage kitchen in Head Chef's absence.
• Assist Head Chef in menu development.
• Prepare high quality dishes from fresh produce.
• Create a warm, efficient and fun kitchen environment.
• Work within budget and control costs.
• Complete regular stock and audits.
