Barchester Healthcare is seeking a qualified Second Chef to work with fresh seasonal food and deliver hotel/restaurant standards within our UK homes. You will support the Head Chef, tailor menus for residents and create nutritious, flavoursome dishes that meet high quality standards.

You will thrive in a warm, supportive team, manage kitchen operations in the Head Chef’s absence, work within budget and contribute to a positive, resident-centred dining experience across our services.

Qualifications

• Warm, personable approach and genuine interest in residents’ wellbeing
• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
• Good understanding of nutrition
• Experience cooking with fresh seasonal ingredients
• Ability to create a warm, welcoming environment in the home
• Confidence engaging with residents to tailor appetising, nutritious menus
• Strong HACCP knowledge and practice

Responsibilities

• Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence
• Assist Head Chef in menu development
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high-quality dishes
• Create a warm, efficient and fun kitchen environment
• Work within budget
• Complete regular audits
• Manage stock control
