Job summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a qualified Chef to join us as Second Chef, delivering fresh seasonal food and hotel/restaurant standards with better work-life balance. You will support the Head Chef, tailor menus for residents, and create nutritious, flavoursome dishes while engaging with residents to suit their needs.

Qualifications

• personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in resident wellbeing
• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
• Good understanding of nutrition
• Experience with fresh seasonal food
• Ability to create a warm, welcoming environment in the home
• Confidence engaging with residents to create appetising menus
• Good HACCP understanding

Responsibilities

• Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
• Assist Head Chef in menu development
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality dishes
• Create a warm, efficient and fun kitchen environment
• Work within budget
• Complete regular audits
• Manage stock control
