Job summary

The role of the School Nurse in Barnardo's Health quality & Inclusion team, is a national hybrid position working across the organisation.

Are you a Specialist Community Public Health (SCPHN) School Nurse driven by a desire to make a difference to the lives of children, young people, and families? We are looking for an experienced Nursing Midwifery Council registered professional, to help us achieve our purpose at Barnardo's: Changing Childhoods, Changing Lives.

Barnardo's has a new 3-year strategy, which identifies the need to support those children and young people who are at greatest risk of poor health. Barnardo's national Health Quality and Inclusion Team are integral to ensuring the success of this strategy.

This is an extremely exciting time to join Barnardo's and the Health, Quality and Inclusion team. We are an ambitious and dynamic team, that include both clinical and non-clinical experts, enabling Barnardo's to become a leading integrated Health and Social Care Charity.

Barnardo's is here because too many children and young people across the UK are missing out on a good childhood, and on the opportunity to thrive into adults. We are looking for a dynamic and creative School Nurse with a solution focused approach to help drive and identify opportunity and improvements in our current and future public health 0-19 services across the country.

Main duties of the job
  • Registered with the NMC RN & SCPHN School Nurse (SN)
  • Significant community experience of working as a SCPHN (SN) with children and families with complex needs experiencing deep inequalities and leading and managing their care
  • Evidence of utilising evidence-based practice and appraising standards, providing clinical direction for staff
  • Experience of using initiative and leading change to achieve better outcomes for children
  • Ability to be creative with a solution focused mindset
  • Ability to facilitate others to develop service provision
  • Flexible and able to respond to changing priorities
