SCHOOL LIBRARY ASSISTANT

Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, term-time only plus INSET days
Hours: 12.5 hours per week (9:00 – 11:30am daily)

Grade: 3 (NJC Point 4)
Salary: £25,185 FTE
Actual Salary: £7,386 (pro rata)

About the Role

The Local Academy Council of Littleton Green Community School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated School Library Assistant to support teaching and learning across Reception to Year 6.

We are a hardworking and committed team of professionals who work together to provide a welcoming, safe, and outstanding academy and nursery environment.

The Successful Candidate Will:
  • Hold a minimum NVQ Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) & Grade C / Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths
  • Have a love of literacy and books, with enthusiasm for promoting reading across the school
  • Be creative, with the ability to design and maintain engaging library and book-related displays
  • Be able to communicate and promote a “Book of the Month” (or similar reading initiative)
  • Have experience of the Accelerated Reader programme (desirable)
  • Demonstrate effective use of ICT packages
  • Be able to use relevant equipment and resources
  • Work constructively as part of a team
  • Relate well to children and adults
  • Be able to direct other adults as required
  • Demonstrate good organising, planning, and prioritising skills
  • Be methodical, with excellent attention to detail
  • Work effectively within school policies and procedures
  • Communicate daily with class teachers, teaching assistants, and leadership staff
  • Be proactive, adaptable, and flexible in their approach
