Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) in Lisburn is seeking a Cook to assist the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor in all activities related to meal preparation and cooking, ensuring a hygienic, efficient service and customer satisfaction.

The role covers menu preparation, portion control, hygiene checks, stock management, staff supervision and training, and promoting the service to parents and customers. A commitment to HACCP and food safety is essential.

Qualifications

• Hold NVQ level 2 in food preparation and cooking or City & Guilds 706-1 & 706-2 or equivalent or higher relevant qualification OR
• Two years’ experience of food preparation and cooking within a catering establishment
• Knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)
• Willingness to undertake job related training

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of meals and menu planning.
• Record keeping and stock-taking.
• Control of hygiene, health and safety in the kitchen including recording of temperatures.
• Shared supervision of staff and training where required.
• General kitchen duties including cleaning and equipment setup/clearing.
• Assist in promotion of the service to increase uptake.
