Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Cook to assist in the preparation and cooking of meals under the supervision of the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor. The role focuses on hygienic service, portion control, and meeting dietary needs while supporting staff and promoting the service to parents and customers.

The successful candidate will have either NVQ Level 2 in food preparation and cooking or City & Guilds 706-1/706-2 or an equivalent qualification, or two years of relevant

Qualifications

• Hold either (A) or (B): NVQ level 2 in food preparation and cooking or City & Guilds 706-1 & 706-2 or equivalent or higher relevant qualification.
• Two years’ experience of food preparation and cooking within a catering establishment.
• HACCP knowledge required.
• Willingness to undertake job related training.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and cooking of meals; support senior staff.
• Record keeping; hygiene and safety in kitchen; monitor temperatures.
• Assist in menu planning, portion control and special dietary meals.
• Supervise other staff; assist in stock control and kitchen administration.
• Promote the service to increase uptake and ensure clean, hygienic environments.
