Job summary

Education Authority in Northern Ireland seeks a Cook to assist the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor with meal preparation and cooking within a busy school kitchen. You will work as part of a team to ensure hygienic, high-quality meals and contribute to customer satisfaction and programme uptake.

The role involves assisting with menus, portion control, dietary meals, and shared supervision of staff, with duties including hygiene control, stock and general kitchen management.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in food preparation and cooking or equivalent qualification.
• Knowledge of HACCP.
• Willingness to undertake job-related training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of menus, portion control and dietary meals.
• Assist with record keeping and hygiene control in the kitchen.
• Direction and/or shared supervision of other staff.
• Operational control of service points including transported meals.
• General kitchen duties and promoting the service to parents and customers.
