Job summary

Education Authority in Banbridge is seeking a Cook to assist the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor in preparing and cooking meals, ensuring a hygienic, high-quality service that satisfies customers and promotes sales. You will work as part of a team to deliver the unit’s catering requirements.

The role covers menu preparation, portion control, dietary meals, function catering where appropriate, and involves record-keeping, stock management, and supervising staff.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 2 in food preparation and cooking or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience of food preparation and cooking within a catering establishment.
• Knowledge of HACCP.
• Willingness to undertake job related training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with skilled cooking activities for the full range of meals.
• Record keeping and hygiene controls in the kitchen including recording temperatures.
• Direction and/or shared supervision of other employees.
• Operational control of service points including transported meals.
• Stock-taking, including organisation of stores and fridges and receipt of deliveries.
• General kitchen management in the absence of the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor.
• Training of staff and cash handling where appropriate.
• General kitchen duties such as washing up, setting up and clearing away equipment.
• Assist in promoting the service to parents, principals and customers to increase uptake.
• Duties as delegated in connection with service provision.
