Overview

My client is looking for a DT Technician to work at a School around the Northolt area. This is a Full-time Permanent Position to start in December 2025, and it will be working Term-time only + 1 week (39 weeks per year).

Salary

Salary: NJC Scale 4, Points 7-10, £26,233 – £27,263 actual salary (£30,288 – £31,611 FTE)

Hours

You will be expected to work the following hours:

  • 8am- 3.45pm (Monday-Thursday)
  • 8am-3.30pm (Friday)
Key Duties
  • Prepare and maintain materials, tools, equipment, and classrooms for D&T lessons and exams.
  • Manage stock, order parts within budget, and ensure safe storage and disposal of materials (including hazardous substances).
  • Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning, and servicing of machines, tools, and ICT/CAD/CAM equipment.
  • Support teachers and students in practical activities, including demonstrations and exhibition setup.
  • Maintain health and safety standards, records, and risk assessments.
  • Assist with extra-curricular events, taster days, and provide technical support to staff/premises team.
  • Perform general repairs, tool sharpening, basic carpentry/engineering tasks, and organise annual testing/servicing.
Essential Requirements
  • English and Maths GCSE (Grade 4 or equivalent).
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative, and stay calm under pressure.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to health & safety.
  • Flexible, reliable, with excellent timekeeping and professional attitude.
Desirable Skills/Experience
  • Previous experience in a school/college environment.
  • Knowledge of resistant materials, engineering, and graphics equipment.
  • IT proficiency (Word, email, spreadsheets, CAD/CAM).
