What You'll Be Doing
  • Monitoring daily student attendance, punctuality, and absence patterns to ensure accurate and timely records.
  • Following up on unexplained absences through phone calls, texts, and emails to parents and carers.
  • Working closely with pastoral teams, form tutors, and senior leaders to identify attendance concerns early.
  • Building positive relationships with students and families to remove barriers to regular attendance.
  • Preparing attendance reports, data summaries, and analyses to support school decision‑making.
  • Coordinating meetings with parents, external agencies, and internal staff to address persistent absence.
  • Supporting safeguarding procedures and ensuring all attendance‑related actions comply with statutory requirements.
  • Promoting a culture of high expectations, responsibility, and excellent attendance across the school.

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator‑comfortable speaking with parents, students, staff, and external agencies.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and approachable in a busy school environment.

  • Experience in a school office, attendance, safeguarding, or pastoral role is beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly with MIS systems (training can be provided).
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
