Scan 4 Safety Assistant (Oxford Road Campus)

Join our rapid‑growing Scan 4 Safety team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, a leading integrated health, teaching, research and innovation campus in Manchester.

Main duties of the job
  • Implement and maintain service standards across key departments and wards, undertaking day‑to‑day ordering activity on behalf of the customer, in line with agreed protocols.
  • Ensure the customer’s requirements are met cost‑effectively, ensuring continuity of supplies.
  • Carry out quarterly reviews with ward/department leads, using system data to illustrate spending patterns, identifying and agreeing products and stock levels, monitoring usage and placing timely and accurate orders.
  • Maintain regular customer contact to review stock levels, reflect activity and update product range in agreement with the customer.
  • Assist in value‑for‑money studies to contribute to savings targets and report on spend/saving activity.
  • Receive, check and put away all deliveries; rotate items, store in correct location and keep store tidy.
  • Process and monitor discrepancies, ensuring returns and credits are processed appropriately.

  • Good standard of basic education or equivalent experience
  • Studying for CIPS, Supply Chain & Logistics or other related qualification
Experience
  • Working knowledge of recognised Electronic Materials Management systems
  • Understanding of Scan 4 Safety and GS1 initiatives.
  • Experience of a customer‑services related department or similar environment.
  • Previous experience in a local NHS Supplies Department.
  • Demonstrable understanding of medical stock management.
  • Understanding of simple purchasing activity.
  • Previous experience of working in a team environment.
