Sales Engineer
We are looking for a Sales Engineer to join a well established manufacturing business based in Bolton. The company produces a diverse range of products for industrial applications, supporting both standard solutions and tailored customer requirements.
This position is mainly office based but involves crise regular travel to customer locations across the UK. You will meet clients in person for technical discussions, product demonstrations, and commercial negotiations, so a full UK driving licence is essential. The role requires managing multiple product portfolios, providing technical guidance throughout the sales process, and working closely with internal teams to ensure projects are completed successfully.
Salary: £36,000 - £45,000 per annum.
Job Type: Full‑time, Permanent.
Working Hours: 38 hours per week; Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:00 and Friday 07:30 to 12:50.
Responsibilities
- Oversee sales activity for multiple product lines across the UK.
- Maintain and strengthen customer relationships through regular face‑to‑face meetings.
- Identify potential business opportunities and support account growth.
- Deliver technical guidance and commercial support during the sales process, including proposals, quotations, and contract discussions.
- Attend client sites for technical presentations, demonstrations, and consultations.
- Work closely with Engineering and Operations teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Track market trends, competitor activity, and technological developments to inform sales planning.
- Support the preparation of tenders and bids, including reviewing specifications and coordinating მოთ pricing.
- Keep CRM records up to date, monitoring leads, opportunities, and follow‑ups.
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, and delivery schedules to achieve business targets.
- Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions巡and trade shows to raise profile and generate new leads.
- Focus on retaining existing customers while actively driving growth.
- Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and quality issues efficiently.
- Apply numerical and analytical skills when preparing quotations, pricing, and sales reports.
- Use company provided tools, including laptop and mobile phone, to manage daily activities.
Requirements
- HNC or Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical Verder.
- Experience in customer‑facing technical or external sales roles, ideally with a focus on new business development.
- Full UK driving licence required for pool car use and willingness to travel regularly.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality standards.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and data reporting tools. Solidworks would be advantageous.
- Numerical and analytical skills to interpret technical specifications, prepare quotations, and manage sales reporting and pricing decisions.
