Job summary

Plumb Centre, part of the Wolseley Group, is hiring a Sales Assistant in Peterborough. You’ll assist customers at the trade counter, make product recommendations and handle enquiries by phone and email, delivering friendly service and building relationships.

You'll proactively seek ways to grow branch sales, support in warehouse duties, and may drive a 3.5t van for holiday cover. A hands-on team player with sales and customer service experience, good communication, and a valid UK driving licence

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist customers at the trade counter with product recommendations.

• Proactively grow sales within the branch with existing and new customers.
• Carry out general warehouse duties incl. picking/packing and merchandising.
• Relief driving a 3.5t van for holiday cover.

Role Responsibilities

• Assisting customers at the trade counter by understanding their specific needs and providing product recommendations
• Dealing with customer enquiries via phone & email promptly and courteously, with a proactive attitude
• Providing excellent service, establishing strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and suppliers
• Proactively seeking opportunities to grow sales within the branch, working with both existing and new customers
• Completing general warehouse duties, including picking and packing orders (which will involve some heavy lifting), organising deliveries and merchandising displays to a high standard
• Relief driving 3.5t van for holiday cover, delivering customer orders

Working Hours & Contract Type

This is a Full Time, permanent role working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday 08:00am- 17:00pm. Saturday working when required 8am to 12pm, paid as overtime.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in sales and customer service
• Excellent communication skills and confidence speaking with customers
• Understanding of plumbing and heating would be beneficial
• A hands-on approach, using initiative when needed to work as part of a small team and support in all areas at the branch
• Eagerness to learn, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude
• Full UK Manual Driving licence
