Job summary

Plumb Centre in Bury is hiring a Sales Assistant to join the branch team. You will assist customers at the trade counter, respond to inquiries via phone and email, and actively pursue sales opportunities while supporting warehouse tasks.

The role requires strong customer service skills and a proactive, team-driven attitude. The position is full-time, with a 40-hour work week, early start times, and potential bonus opportunities as part of the benefits package.

Qualifications

• Face-to-face sales and customer service experience required or preferred.
• Warehouse experience and ability to handle heavy items.
• Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Comfortable lifting heavy items and assisting in branch operations.
• Plumbing & heating knowledge is ideal but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Serve customers at the trade counter with product advice and recommendations.
• Respond to phone and email inquiries quickly and courteously.
• Make outbound calls to previous customers to regain business.
• Identify opportunities to drive sales within the branch.
• Assist with general warehouse duties including stock handling and order picking.

Role Responsibilities

• Serving customers on the trade counter by understanding their specific needs and providing advice and product recommendations
• Responding to customer enquiries via phone & email promptly and courteously, with a proactive attitude
• Making outbound phone calls to previous customers to regain their business
• Actively identifying and pursuing opportunities to drive sales within the branch, engaging both new and existing customers
• General warehouse duties including booking incoming stock onto the system and putting it away and picking and packing customer orders which will involve manual handling of heavy stock (e.g., boilers, radiators, sinks, and toilets)

Working Hours

This is a full-time permanent role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 08:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday mornings on a rota basis from 08:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Candidate Requirements

• Plumbing & Heating knowledge is ideal
• Previous face-to-face sales and customer service experience
• Warehouse experience
• The ability to deliver outstanding customer service
• To be a team player who is happy to assist in all areas to ensure the smooth running of the branch
• Eagerness to learn, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and a strong work ethic
