Job summary

Plumb Centre, part of the Wolseley Group, is seeking a Sales Assistant in Ely to help customers at the trade counter with product recommendations and expert service. The role offers 40 hours per week, with Monday–Friday hours and Saturday mornings on a rota.

Qualifications

• Face-to-face sales and customer service experience required.
• Strong customer service ethos and ability to handle multiple enquiries.
• Team player who supports colleagues to ensure smooth branch operation.
• Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Comfortable lifting heavy items and assisting in warehouse tasks.
• Proactive approach to identifying sales opportunities and following up.
• Good communication via phone and email to customers.

Responsibilities

• Serving customers on the trade counter by understanding their needs and providing advice and product recommendations.
• Responding to customer enquiries via phone & email promptly and courteously, with a proactive attitude.
• Making outbound phone calls to previous customers to regain their business.
• Actively identifying and pursuing opportunities to drive sales within the branch, engaging both new and existing customers.
• General warehouse duties including booking incoming stock onto the system, putting it away, and picking and packing customer orders which will involve manual handling of heavy stock e.g. boilers, radiators, sinks, and toilets.

Role Details:

This is a full-time, permanent role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:00 am - 5:00 pm, and Saturday mornings on a rota basis 08:00 am - 12:00 pm.

We'd like you to have:

• Plumbing & Heating knowledge is ideal
• Previous Face-to-Face sales and customer service experience
• Warehouse experience
• The ability to deliver outstanding customer service
• To be a team player who is happy to assist in all areas to ensure the smooth running of the branch
• Eagerness to learn, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and a strong work ethic
• To be comfortable lifting heavy items
