The post will be flexibly time-tabled to meet the demands of the service and the timing of sessions may change as the service develops. The post will be spent at Hexham General Hospital to support older people's services there.

The Job Plan will typically include an average of 4 Programmed Activities for Direct Clinical Care duties.

Main duties of the job

The care of the elderly department has a range of specialist interests and a successful candidate will complement the other members of the department. We expect the focus of this post to be within the elderly assessment unit in Hexham, offering same day assessment for frail patients in crisis, working closely with community and primary care colleagues.

Qualifications
  • Full GMC Registration
  • MBBS or equivalent
Experience
  • Approximately four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty such as General/Core Medical training or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty
  • Experience & understanding of Quality Improvement & Audit Management
  • At least two years' experience of Care of Elderly
  • ALS
  • Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates
  • Experience of supervising junior doctors & nurse practitioners
